Hide My WP는 워드프레스의 로그인 주소와 wp-admin, 테마·플러그인 경로를 바꾸거나 숨기는 워드프레스 보안 플러그인입니다. 워드프레스는 로그인 주소인 wp-admin이 그대로 드러나기 때문에 보안을 강화해 주는 보안 플러그인을 사용하여 숨길 수 있습니다.
이 중 Hide My WP는 로그인 주소와 wp-admin을 숨기는 것 외에도 테마·플러그인 경로 변경, 침입 탐지와 IP 차단, XML-RPC 끄기 등 40여 가지 기능을 지원하는 유료 플러그인 중 하나입니다.
1️⃣ Hide My WP 설정 화면
Hide My WP 플러그인의 [Settings] 화면은 Start, Hiding, Permalinks, Protection, Cleanup, Replace 여섯 개의 탭으로 나뉩니다. 로그인 주소와 숨김은 [Hiding]과 [Permalinks] 탭, XML-RPC는 [Cleanup] 탭에 있습니다.

줄마다 [Exclude], [Ban IP], [Delete], [Filter]를 누를 수 있습니다.
[Whitelist this IP], [Delete]와 [Filter by Source]로 목록을 바꿀 수 있습니다.
[Feedback]은 제작사의 외부 로드맵 주소로 이동하며, 그 주소는 [Page not found]를 표시합니다.
[Manual Configuration]은 .htaccess 에 직접 넣을 규칙을 새 탭으로 엽니다.
칸은 모두 바꿀 수 있으며, 노란색 네 칸을 바꾸고 [Save Settings]를 누르면 아래 로그아웃 방문자 화면이 바뀝니다.

2️⃣ 로그인 주소 바꾸기
[Hiding] 탭의 Hide Login Page를 켜면 기본 [wp-login.php]가 404를 돌려주며, 체크하는 순간 Login Query와 Admin Login Key 칸이 펼쳐집니다.
[Permalinks] 탭의 Change Login URL에 newlogin처럼 새 주소를 넣고 저장하면 그 주소에서 로그인 화면이 열립니다. 새 주소를 비워 두면 [wp-login.php?hide_my_wp=1234]처럼 Login Query와 Admin Login Key를 붙인 예비 주소로만 로그인할 수 있으며, 이 예비 주소는 어느 설정에서나 열리므로 열쇠 값은 기본값 1234 대신 바꿔 둡니다.
3️⃣ Hide Login Page & Hide Admin 설정
Hide Login Page는 로그인 화면을, Hide Admin은 관리자 화면 주소인 /wp-admin/을 숨기는 설정입니다.
로그인 화면만 숨기면, 로그인하지 않은 방문자가 /wp-admin/을 열었을 때 워드프레스가 바꾼 로그인 주소로 이동시켜 새 주소가 그대로 드러납니다. 현관 비밀번호를 바꿔도 경비실에 물으면 새 번호를 알려 주는 것과 같습니다.

로그인 화면으로 이동새 로그인 주소로 이동없는 페이지두 설정을 모두 끄면 기본 워드프레스와 같습니다. /wp-admin/을 열면 로그인 화면으로 이동하고(302), /wp-login.php에서도 로그인 화면이 열립니다.
Hide Admin만 켜면 /wp-admin/은 없는 페이지(404)가 되지만, 기본 로그인 주소 /wp-login.php는 그대로 열립니다.
로그인 화면만 숨기면 /wp-login.php는 없는 페이지(404)가 되지만, /wp-admin/을 연 방문자는 바꾼 로그인 주소로 이동해(302) 새 주소를 알게 됩니다.
둘 다 켜면 /wp-admin/과 /wp-login.php가 모두 없는 페이지(404)가 되고, 바꾼 주소를 아는 관리자만 로그인 화면을 엽니다.
Hide Admin까지 켜면 /wp-admin/은 로그인하지 않은 방문자에게 없는 페이지(404)로 보여, 새 로그인 주소를 알 수 없게 됩니다.
4️⃣ XML-RPC 끄기
로그인 주소를 숨겨도 [xmlrpc.php]는 사용자명과 비밀번호를 받는 다른 입구로 남습니다.
[Cleanup] 탭의 Disable XML RPC를 켜면 로그인이 필요한 요청은 405와 함께 [이 사이트에 XML-RPC 서비스는 비활성입니다.]로 거부되지만, [xmlrpc.php] 파일 자체는 계속 응답합니다. 요청이 PHP까지 가지 않게 하려면 서버 설정에서 막습니다.
Disable XML RPC 체크를 해제하고 저장해도 설정이 켜진 채 남는 경우가 있어, 저장한 뒤에는 실제 응답으로 한 번 더 확인합니다.
5️⃣ Hide My WP를 비활성화 후 남는 .htaccess 규칙
Hide My WP는 [Save Settings]를 누를 때 .htaccess의 WordPress 블록 안에 새 로그인 주소 규칙을 추가합니다.

RewriteRule ^newlogin /wp-login.php?zV_hide_my_wp=1234 [QSA,L]플러그인을 비활성화해도 이 줄은 .htaccess에 남아, 바꾼 주소로 계속 로그인 화면이 열렸습니다. 플러그인을 정리할 때는 .htaccess에서 이 줄을 지우고 저장합니다.
