Anche con il campo Purchase Code della scheda [Start] lasciato vuoto, le impostazioni trattate in questo articolo (cambio dell'URL di login, opzioni per nascondere e disattivazione di XML-RPC) sono state salvate e hanno funzionato. Hide My WP è un plugin a pagamento venduto su CodeCanyon.
2️⃣ Cambiare l'URL di login
Attivando Hide Login Page nella scheda [Hiding], il [wp-login.php] predefinito restituisce un 404 e, appena spunti la casella, compaiono i campi Login Query e Admin Login Key.
Inserisci un nuovo indirizzo come newlogin in Change Login URL nella scheda [Permalinks] e salva: la schermata di login si apre a quell'indirizzo. Se lasci vuoto il nuovo indirizzo, puoi accedere solo da un indirizzo di riserva con Login Query e Admin Login Key, come [wp-login.php?hide_my_wp=1234]; dato che questo indirizzo di riserva si apre con qualsiasi impostazione, cambia il valore della chiave invece di lasciare quello predefinito, 1234.
3️⃣ Impostazioni Hide Login Page & Hide Admin
Hide Login Page nasconde la schermata di login, mentre Hide Admin nasconde /wp-admin/, l'indirizzo dell'area di amministrazione.
Se nascondi solo la schermata di login, WordPress manda il visitatore non connesso che apre /wp-admin/ all'URL di login modificato, e il nuovo indirizzo resta esposto. È come cambiare il codice del portone mentre la portineria dà il nuovo codice a chiunque lo chieda.

Con solo Hide Admin attivato, /wp-admin/ diventa una pagina inesistente (404), ma l'URL di login predefinito /wp-login.php si apre ancora.
Se nascondi solo la schermata di login, /wp-login.php diventa una pagina inesistente (404), ma il visitatore che apre /wp-admin/ viene portato all'URL di login modificato (302) e scopre il nuovo indirizzo.
Con entrambe le impostazioni attivate, /wp-admin/ e /wp-login.php diventano pagine inesistenti (404), e solo l'amministratore che conosce l'indirizzo modificato apre la schermata di login.
Attivando anche Hide Admin, /wp-admin/ appare ai visitatori non connessi come una pagina inesistente (404), e il nuovo URL di login resta sconosciuto.
4️⃣ Disattivare XML-RPC
Anche con l'URL di login nascosto, [xmlrpc.php] resta un altro ingresso che accetta nome utente e password.
Attivando Disable XML RPC nella scheda [Cleanup], le richieste che richiedono il login vengono rifiutate con un 405 e [Il servizio XML-RPC è disattivato su questo sito.], ma il file [xmlrpc.php] continua a rispondere. Per evitare che le richieste arrivino fino a PHP, bloccalo nella configurazione del server.
A volte l'impostazione resta attiva anche dopo aver tolto la spunta da Disable XML RPC e salvato, quindi dopo il salvataggio verifica ancora una volta con una risposta reale.
5️⃣ Le regole .htaccess che restano dopo aver disattivato Hide My WP
Quando premi [Save Settings], Hide My WP aggiunge una regola per il nuovo URL di login nel blocco WordPress del file .htaccess.
