Fast WordPress Hosting 2026: 7 Hosts Compared by Benchmark

Website speed, WordPress included, is one of the most important factors for visitor bounce and SEO. On the same load test, fast and slow WordPress hosting answered in 12 ms and 1,068 ms, nearly a 90x gap. Hosting speed depends on server setup, caching and data center location, and we compared seven hosts on TTFB, uptime and load response using HostingStep and Review Signal benchmark figures.

We checked each provider’s caching, CDN and data centers against its official documentation.

The figures in the table are HostingStep’s measurements on each provider’s listed plan, and the ranking follows the five-criteria scores in uknew Hosting Comparison. The Review Signal column shows the Review Signal 2026 benchmark verdicts. ScalaHosting figures come from its managed VPS (Entry Cloud), not shared hosting, measured over 91 days in a HostingStep review and for Cloudways, a 243-day comparison of five DigitalOcean, Vultr and Linode products ( source) showed only a small TTFB gap of 419–447 ms. The first four places lead in different metrics, so their order can change from one measurement period to the next.

2️⃣ Three Factors Behind Hosting Speed

Managed WordPress hosting responds faster and fails less often than shared hosting. In HostingStep’s measurements, eight managed hosts averaged 450 ms TTFB, 66 ms faster than nine shared hosts (516 ms), and had 5.9 outages a year versus 35, a sixfold difference.

Caching and data center location decide speed for visitors far from the server. Eight hosts with edge caching averaged 154 ms global TTFB, about three times faster than hosts with only a static-file CDN (532 ms) or no CDN (478 ms). If your host has no edge cache, choose a data center close to your visitors.

3️⃣ Speed Setup by Provider

1. Cloudways

Cloudways’ platform lets you pick a cloud server such as DigitalOcean, Vultr, AWS or Google Cloud, with Varnish and Redis caching and the Breeze cache plugin built in. On the same 1 GB server, Premium (dedicated vCPU and NVMe) cut DB writes from 350 ms to 180 ms versus Standard in one benchmark ( source), so Premium is the better choice. In June 2026 Cloudways added a 30-day free trial to its Cloudflare Enterprise add-on.

2. Kinsta

Kinsta’s server-level page cache and Cloudflare Enterprise integration serve content from more than 300 edge locations. Its new infrastructure is moving from Google Cloud to Oracle Cloud (OCI), and new sites choose from 30 data centers, including Seoul and Tokyo. In HostingStep’s load test it averaged 40 ms with 0% errors.

3. ScalaHosting

ScalaHosting’s managed cloud VPS uses CPUs up to 4.1 GHz and NVMe storage, and LiteSpeed, LSCache and object cache are available from the Entry Cloud plan. CDN is added by connecting Cloudflare in SPanel. In HostingStep’s 91-day test, Entry Cloud averaged 48 ms with 0% errors under load, but its 501 ms global TTFB was slower outside the Americas.

4. Pressable

Pressable’s Batcache page cache and object cache are standard, and Edge Cache has been included on every plan since 2023. At launch, Edge Cache answered from 28 locations, 4 origin data centers and 24 edge sites, and you switch it on in the Cache tab of the MyPressable control panel. In HostingStep’s measurements, its 74 ms global TTFB was the fastest of the seven.

5. Hostinger

Hostinger’s plans all run the LiteSpeed web server with LSCache, and CDN is included at no extra cost from the Business plan. HostingStep measured 404 ms global TTFB on Premium without CDN and 351 ms on Business with CDN.

6. WPX

WPX’s own cloud runs LiteSpeed Enterprise servers, with 3 data centers and more than 43 locations of its own CDN (XDN) included on every plan. Its 411 ms US TTFB was the second fastest of the seven in HostingStep’s measurements, and it also earned Top Tier in Review Signal 2026.

7. ChemiCloud

ChemiCloud’s plans use the LiteSpeed web server, LSCache and Redis, with Cloudflare CDN connected for free. You can pick the closest of 9 WordPress hosting data centers, but in HostingStep’s load test it averaged 1,068 ms with 4.2% errors, the slowest of the seven.

4️⃣ Speed Rankings Change Every Year

Speed rankings shift every year. In HostingStep’s measurements, WP Engine took first place in TTFB for the first time since monitoring began in 2020, while Rocket.net, first for four straight years from 2021, fell to second. Just as Kinsta is moving its infrastructure to Oracle Cloud and Cloudways added a Cloudflare Enterprise trial in 2026, the top hosts keep upgrading their servers and caching beyond raw speed.

🔢 FAQ & Recommended Content

TTFB is the time a server takes to send the first byte after receiving a visitor’s request. The US TTFB in the table is HostingStep’s average from 19 North American locations checked every 60 seconds, and global TTFB is the average measured from several regions worldwide.

Concurrent users are ramped from 0 to 100 over 60 seconds while the average response time and error rate are recorded. It shows how quickly a server handles requests when visitors arrive all at once.

HostingStep buys hosting accounts itself, sets up identical WordPress sites and checks TTFB and uptime 525,600 times a year per host. Review Signal only tests providers that sign up, so in 2026 just Pressable, WPX and ScalaHosting of the seven were included.
