Cloudways Alternatives: Managed WordPress Hosting and Server Management Panels, Price Comparison

Affiliate disclosure v3.1
Affiliate disclosure v3.2 (mobile)

If you are looking for Cloudways alternatives, you will pick one of managed WordPress hosting, budget hosting or a server management panel, depending on why you want to leave. I checked the pricing pages of eight providers across the three alternatives on October 13, 2026, and compared their monthly cost with a Cloudways 1GB server ($11–14 a month).

1️⃣ When you need a Cloudways alternative

With Cloudways you pay per server and put as many sites as you like on that server, and a DigitalOcean 1GB server costs $11 (Standard) or $14 (Premium) a month. The more sites you run, the lower the cost per site, but if you run just one site, budget hosting with long-term prepayment costs less.

Choosing and scaling the server size is up to you, and the master account has no sudo rights, so you cannot directly change system logs or server settings. If you don't want to manage servers at all, managed WordPress hosting fits; if you need full server access, renting a server yourself and adding a management panel fits.

☁️ CloudwaysPricing per server · unlimited sites · no sudo on the master account
🛎️ Managed WordPress hostingKinsta · WPX · Pressable
💸 Budget hostingHostinger · ChemiCloud
🧰 Server management panelRunCloud · SpinupWP · GridPane
If you run just one site, budget hosting with long-term prepayment costs less; Hostinger WordPress Premium is $2.99 a month when you pay for 48 months.
If you don't want to manage servers, managed WordPress hosting fits, and the provider takes care of server management and cache and backup settings.
If you need full server access, you rent a cloud server yourself and add a management panel, and root access to the server is yours.

Mailboxes (Rackspace, $1.50 per mailbox per month) and offsite backup storage ($0.033 per GB) are billed separately from the server fee, so include these costs when you decide whether to leave.

2️⃣ Managed WordPress hosting alternatives

With managed WordPress hosting, instead of a server size you choose a plan defined by the number of sites, storage and visitors, and the provider takes care of server management and cache and backup settings.

Entry-level plans range from $17.99 (WPX Starter) to $35 (Kinsta Single) a month, and all three, WPX, Kinsta and Pressable, start from one site.

Because pricing is per site, the cost grows as you add sites, so it doesn't suit you if you have been running several sites on one server.

3️⃣ Budget hosting alternatives

To run one site at the lowest cost, the alternative is WordPress hosting with big long-term prepayment discounts, such as Hostinger or ChemiCloud.

The first-payment price applies only for the contract term: Hostinger WordPress Premium goes from $2.99 a month on a 48-month payment to $10.99 a month on renewal, close to a Cloudways 1GB server.

4️⃣ Server management panel alternatives

With a server management panel, you rent a cloud server such as DigitalOcean or Vultr yourself and add a management tool that handles WordPress installation, SSL, backups and caching through a dashboard. You pay for what Cloudways does split into a server fee and a panel fee, and root access to the server is yours.

Panel fees are $9 a month for RunCloud Essentials and $12 a month for SpinupWP Essentials, and GridPane Core is free.

Even if the panel fee is low, the server fee comes on top, and you handle server updates, security and outages yourself, so this suits people who have worked with Linux servers.

5️⃣ Price comparison by alternative

The prices in the table are the entry-level plan prices shown on each provider's pricing page on October 13, 2026 (USD, excluding tax), and for server management panels the server fee comes on top.

PanelRunCloud Essentials$9 + server fee$90/year + server fee1 server
PanelSpinupWP Essentials$12 + server fee—1 server
PanelGridPane CoreFree + server fee—25 sites

For a single site, budget hosting has the lowest first-payment price on long-term billing, while on monthly billing a Cloudways 1GB Standard server ($11) is cheaper than Hostinger Premium ($11.99) and ChemiCloud ($14.95). If you run several sites, the cost per site goes down with Cloudways or a server management panel, which put them on one server.

Kinsta, WPX and ChemiCloud include site migration in their entry-level plans. Whether the same terms apply when you move from Cloudways is something to confirm with each provider's support.
